In recent years, pianist and producer Mirek Coutigny has worked on his own world of sound with electronic and acoustic instruments. He improvised on sketches that he wrote over the last 10 years and reworked them for piano, strings, percussion and electronics. This culminated into several releases, the latest being his first full album ‘Through Empty Landscapes and New Beginnings’, released on the labels Consouling Sounds and Icarus Records.

His first EP, 'Revisions #1', was released in 2018. After this first release, a live set was created with Jonathan Bonny (percussion) and Jolien Deley (cello). In this formation they won both the audience prize and the jury prize from the Leffingeleuren festival.

His second EP sounds a lot more intuitive and organic: where “Revisions # 1” was a record of thoughts, “The Further We Ventured” is a record from the heart. Sometimes complex, sometimes amazingly accessible; comparisons with Jóhann Jóhannsson or Ólafur Arnalds are never far away.

2021 saw the release of his soundtrack for the movie ‘Everything Will Be Fine’, and the release of a set of reworks of ‘The Further We Ventured’ by artists like OUTER, Uma Chine and Ides Moon.

Furthermore he has worked as a composer and mixing engineer from his Atlas Studios, working with several artists and bands, and providing the finishing touches for several soundtracks.
